This ending completely destroys the final message that Attack on Titan was supposed to sell: war is bad, violence is bad, morality is grey, genocide is never the answer, children shouldn’t be involved in war, and the abusive relationships should be left.6/10, too many plotholes, felt rushed, the story deserved 1 or 2 more episodes to be finished properly, too much wasted potential for the end.The closure from this final chapter is something that is much needed. I am of the opinion that if this chapter were extended into a multi-chapter epilogue we might have actually gotten some closure on things we didn’t even see enough of (Yelena, worm thingy, Ymir’s Stockholm syndrome) and expansion of other aspects of the story. I genuinely liked a lot of the twists in the chapter, but it was pretty obvious Isayama was rushed due to this impending deadline. It gets saved from a 1 because of Levi and the Scouts, and that’s it.

Love you all <3) and this is the first time I have ever given a chapter anything below a 3.

On a final note, in the 138 poll we asked people to guess the name of the final chapter. We’ll be releasing a mini poll in a few days that focuses on those pages to see how they’ve affected perceptions of the ending. This poll data was collected before the fandom had seen the additional pages, so keep in mind the answers don’t have the knowledge of that content. If you’d like to see larger versions of the charts, they are similarly available to view.

If you’d like to see all the write ins, they are available as PDF downloads. Our write in doc, which is normally a few hundred pages, exploded this month to more than 1,300 pages, which by the way, is more pages than Lord of the Rings or War and Peace. This month, Reddit accounts for ⅔ of all responses, significantly more than most months where Twitter and Reddit are even. We expected a big reaction to the final chapter but none of us on the poll team were prepared for the 16,290 responses we received.
